  • Heinz Hermann Thiele leaves Vossloh's Supervisory Board as of the end of the Annual General Meeting 2017
  • Former Deutsche Bahn Executive Board member Dr Volker Kefer designated as future chairman of the Supervisory Board

Today, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of Vossloh Aktiengesellschaft, Heinz Hermann Thiele, has informed the Management Board that he resigns from his positions as chairman and member of the Supervisory Board with effect as of the end of the Annual General Meeting on 24 May 2017.

The Management Board would like to thank Mr Thiele for his long-standing, highly successful work on the company's Supervisory Board, his entrepreneurial foresight and sustained support for the transformation of the Vossloh Group and in particular for the very good and at all times trustful cooperation. Heinz Hermann Thiele currently holds almost 45% of the shares in Vossloh Aktiengesellschaft and has been both member and chairman of the Supervisory Board since 2013. During his office as chairman of the Supervisory Board, Heinz Hermann Thiele and the Management Board comprehensively restructured, reoriented and prepared Vossloh for the imminent growth period.

Based on the recommendation of the Nomination Committee, the Supervisory Board will propose to the Annual General Meeting to appoint the former vice chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Bahn AG, Dr Volker Kefer, as successor for the remaining term of Heinz Hermann Thiele’s office. It is envisaged that Dr Kefer is going to chair the Supervisory Board after his election.

Dr Kefer started his career at Siemens in 1983, where he was responsible for and head of the business division Mass Transit until April 2006. As from May 2006, he was Chairman of the Management Board of DB Netz AG. In September 2009, Dr Kefer became member of Deutsche Bahn AG’s Management Board responsible for rail technology, systems and services. Between March 2010 and his retirement at Deutsche Bahn at the end of 2016, Dr Kefer was also responsible for rail infrastructure and was appointed vice chairman of the Management Board in 2015. As an experienced and widely appreciated railway manager, Dr Kefer will substantially contribute to the further successful development of Vossloh into a focused and worldwide leading provider of complete solutions for the railway infrastructure.
