Connecting expertise in rail infrastructure

At InnoTrans 2016 in Berlin, Vossloh will be presenting itself as specialist and value chain partner for railway infrastructure. Under the motto "connecting expertise", the expert teams of the Vossloh divisions will be showcasing integrated solutions to the most pressing railway challenges: lower lifecycle costs, effective reduction of noise and vibrations, and optimized line availability.

Given their immense complexity, the challenges in railway transport can only be met by combined efforts. For Vossloh, the InnoTrans fair is an important platform to intensify dialog with customers and partners, with emphasis on a holistic approach. Vossloh's trade fair motto “connecting expertise” also stands for the realignment of the Group into a customer-focused integrator of railway infrastructure technology. With this in mind, Vossloh has converged the expertise and resources of three divisions in order to maximize its offering to customers through integrated solutions from a single source.

Maintenance work accounts for a large part of all operating expenses of the rail infrastructure operator, thus easily outweighing the original investment. For cost optimization, Vossloh designs components that require as little maintenance as possible while using materials and resources sparingly. Right from the start, a modular design facilitates service and replacement. Turnout monitoring systems support a predictive maintenance strategy. A better understanding of the condition and typical wear of a system will give the network operator more flexibility in planning required maintenance work. What's more, this can be completed within a shorter time. Together with preventive care, the service life of tracks and turnouts can be doubled—with the added bonus of reduced noise.

Noise is another subject that Vossloh addresses in an integral approach. The comprehensive solutions start at the root cause: the rail. Highly elastic rail fastening systems with vibration-dampening properties, an intelligent, noise-abating turnout design and preventive rail and turnout grinding result in clearly reduced noise emissions and vibrations.

Given today’s tight timetables, any construction and maintenance jobs inevitably shorten network availability, with a negative impact on punctuality and the disruption of train services. Just how Vossloh's modular product ideas and logistical procedures can accelerate and simplify installation and maintenance work by as much as 50 percent is another subject highlighted at the Vossloh stand where the focus is on plannable maintenance measures as well as on coping with unexpected events such as disruptions, defects or weather-related problems.
