Our core business is rail infrastructure; we manufacture railroad track components and offer services such as rail maintenance solutions.
Our typical customers include private railroads and network operators, public and municipal transportation authorities, and rail infrastructure construction companies. These customers need to feel confident that rail infrastructure components are safe, cost effective and meet performance expectations. Vossloh has references all over the world, with well-established solutions that are now standard specifications on many of our customer’s networks. We offer rail infrastructure solutions for every type of railway application, from heavy haul and conventional rail, to high speed rail lines, and everything in between. We are a global leader in rail fasteners and switch systems, including preventative track maintenance high speed grinding.
Vossloh currently has four divisions, three of which encompass our core business of rail infrastructure including Core Components, Customized Modules and Lifecycle Solutions. The fourth division, Transportation, combines the production of diesel locomotives. Since the adoption of our new strategic direction in 2014, we are focused on offering our customers comprehensive Rail Infrastructure solutions - Transportation offerings are no-longer part of part of this core business.
The individual companies are centrally coordinated by the holding company, Vossloh AG, and operate in common under the Vossloh brand.
The Core Components division manufactures standardized products on an industrial scale, which are required in large quantities for rail infrastructure.
Vossloh’s Fastening Systems business unit is a worldwide leading provider of rail fastening systems, which are used in more than 65 countries. The screw-fastened and maintenance-free elastic systems are suitable for all applications: ballasted and slab tracks, mainline and conventional lines, high-speed lines, heavy haul and local transport. Approx. 50 million tension clamps leave Vossloh’s production sites in Europe, Asia and North America every year.
Furthermore, Vossloh’s Tie Technologies business unit is the leading manufacturer of concrete railway ties in North America. In addition, six own production sites in the USA and another one in Mexico also produce switch ties, concrete low-vibration track blocks and crossing panels. Vossloh Tie Technologies stands for decades of experience in the US market and maintains excellent customer relationships with major Class 1 rail operators as well as passenger transportation companies in the USA.
The Customized Modules division develops and manufactures switch systems for rail infrastructure, project specific solutions designed to meet the customers’ individual requirements. Installation and maintenance are related Vossloh services.
Vossloh is a global leader in railway switch systems, with over 30 production sites in over 20 countries. We design and manufacture turnouts and crossing, turnout components including manganese frogs, switch blades, switch actuators and locking devices, as well as signalling products and rail monitoring systems. Vossloh offers switch systems for all types of railway freight and passenger transit applications, and every track speed, from heavy haul to high speed. We have references around the globe and are familiar with all international standards.
The Lifecycle Solutions division of Vossloh provides track related services, including welding and transportation of long rails, maintenance and preventative care of tracks and switches, and reconditioning / recycling of old rails. These services also cover the lifecyle management of entire track sections.
In Germany, Vossloh is the leading provider of rail services. With our high-speed grinding solution, a preventative track grinding process at high-speed, Vossloh has the advanced technology to meet the needs or railroad networks worldwide, which is why Vossloh is the first private company to supply maintenance services on high-speed lines in China.
The Transportation division includes the production of shunting locomotives. At its location in Kiel, Vossloh Locomotives develops and produces technologically advanced diesel-electric and diesel-hydraulic locomotives, which are equipped with environmentally-friendly technology, and are approved in many European countries.
Alongside today’s standard quality management (in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001), all large Vossloh locations are also certified in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management system, or equivalent. Vossloh companies are committed meeting additional environmental standards and projects, such as the EU environmental management and audit, EMAS, as well as the German environmental and climate protection project ÖKOPROFIT, and energy management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001.
Rail transportation is among the most environmentally-friendly modes of transportation, both locally and across long distances. Vossloh thereby makes an important contribution to the environment by bringing rail infrastructure solutions that are vital to railway operation. We help ensure the environmentally-friendly movement of people and goods can be cost effective and safe.
Because Vossloh generates a significant share of its sales with products and services that contribute to environmentally-friendly transportation, Vossloh AG attracts investors who are focused on sustainability. Since 2008, Vossloh has been listed in several sustainability rankings, and is included in the social responsibility universe by research firms Oekom and Kempen/SNS SRI. In addition, Vossloh AG has been participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for several years, and in 2015 will once again participate in the vigeo rating.
Safety is our core value and highest priority. Vossloh is committed to a zero harm work environment with the full commitment, support and resources of the Executive Board. All of the major production locations of the Vossloh Group are certified in accordance with OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series), which is one of the most important standards for occupational safety management systems, used in more than 80 countries. The Work Safety Committee is a permanent Vossloh working group for occupational safety. The group has created a collective occupational safety policy, which is binding for all companies worldwide.
