The Vossloh Model VE 4500P is a state-of-the-art locomotive specifically designed and developed to set new standards for North American Commuter and Passenger Operators. The locomotive design is a compilation of Vossloh’s experience with:
- EMD Power Plants: The Valencia Plant in Spain has been working with EMD since 1960 and has built more that 1,000 diesel-electric locomotives with an EMD engine and traction system.
- Diesel-electric passenger locomotives: Vossloh has designed a wide variety of passenger locomotives, and has developed solutions to satisfy operators’ specific requirements. 4 axles, light weight, high speed (125 mph), traction & braking performances, safety and special functions, etc.
- North American market: Vossloh has in-depth knowledge and experience with the application of the latest US standards e.g. APTA , FRA and AAR.
The VE 4500P uses the best features of two different products designed and built by Vossloh Spain in cooperation with EMD:
